Why Changing the Subject Changed Everything:
A Mindset Reset
You might be wondering, what on earth made me change the subject?
After diving into podcasts packed with edgy, sometimes controversial topics (and yes, they drew the highest numbers), I felt a pull in a completely different direction. It wasn’t sudden; it was more of a return.
Years ago, I encountered a mindset approach that sparked something in me. I lost touch with it over time, but thanks to a group of incredible friends from Germany, it recently came back into focus.
And now, it feels more relevant than ever.
This isn’t just about staying positive for the sake of it. It’s about learning how to use your thoughts to shape your life. Millions of books and seminars focus on this exact idea, because it works. And because people are seeking not just answers, but transformation.
1. Why Focus on the Positive?
We’re surrounded by negativity. News, social media, even casual conversation often lean towards what’s wrong with the world. But here’s the truth: what you focus on expands. When you focus on the positive, you begin to see opportunities, solutions, and support all around you.
This isn’t wishful thinking. It’s neuroscience and energy combined.
As the late Wayne Dyer said, “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
2. You Attract What You Think About
Napoleon Hill said it in 1927. Earl Nightingale confirmed it in 1956. And nearly every modern mindset coach repeats it today:
You become what you think about most of the time.
Your thoughts shape your actions, which shape your habits, which define your life. Negative thinking? It leads to more of what you don’t want. Positive thinking? You guessed it, more of what you do want.
This is not law-of-attraction fluff. This is focus, intention, and repetition at work.
3. Think About Thinking

Ever ask yourself how you think about thinking?
Start by becoming more aware of the thoughts you’re entertaining. Here are a few tools to help:
- Keep a thought journal
- Practice daily check-ins with yourself
- Read books outside your usual genres
- Turn off the TV (seriously)
- Try new experiences
- Exercise regularly, New movement stimulates new neural pathways
- Talk to people who uplift and challenge you
- Switch up your daily routines (yes, even your drive to work)
These seemingly small changes can have a huge impact on your thinking patterns.
4. What’s Really Controlling Your Mind?
Only a small percentage of your thoughts are conscious. The rest? Subconscious.
Your subconscious mind is the backstage operator of your life. When your conscious and subconscious minds work together, aligned on a goal, you become unstoppable.
Kevin Trudeau: “If you want things in your life to change, you have to change things in your life.”
5. Are Your Thoughts Even Real?
They feel real. They sound real. But they’re intangible and exist only within you.
Your brain fires electrical impulses that create thoughts. They’re interpretations, snapshots, of your internal and external world. But just because you think something doesn’t mean it’s true.
The real power lies in choosing which thoughts to keep.
6. Feelings Are Your Compass
Your emotional state is a guidance system. At the core, you either feel good or bad. That’s it.
If your thoughts are causing you to feel bad, it’s a sign you’re out of alignment with what you truly want. Feeling good is not a luxury, it’s essential for progress.
You can raise your vibe with simple tools like:
- Saying, “I feel terrific!” when someone asks how you are
- Reciting uplifting mantras like Ed Foreman’s “I feel happy, I feel fine, I feel this way all the time”
- Acting “as if” until it becomes reality (yes, fake it till you make it still works)
7. Set Goals That Move You
Want to create lasting change? Set goals that are:
- Big enough to excite you
- Small enough to believe in
- Vivid enough to visualize clearly
- Emotionally compelling (they should feel good to think about)
And most importantly, write them down and drop the deadline. Pressure kills energy. Flow invites it.
8. Real-Life Magic
Since implementing these mindset principles, my own life began shifting in subtle but powerful ways. We had been searching for a holistic dentist for ages, no luck. A few weeks into using what I learned from GIN (Global Information Network), we “coincidentally” found one. Coincidence? Or clarity?
Final Thoughts
You are the thinker of your thoughts and therefore, the creator of your reality. Change the thoughts, and everything else follows. As Henry Ford put it: “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.”
So, the next time you catch yourself spiralling, stop. Shift. Choose better thoughts. Because what you want, wants you.

Thank you for your off-grid thoughts. They are certainly a refreshing way of looking at life and reflect many of the things I subscribe to in particular where you put your attention and your thoughts is what manifests in your life.
The issue, however, that I struggle with is that there is light and dark side to life and finding a way of balance these. One cannot ignore some of the things in the outside or internal world. I think that one ignores the dark at one’s own peril and equally I think that one ignores the light that too is at one’s peril.
I spent 10 years engaged with an Intentional Community and most of the spiritual exploration was in the top 4 chakras – call it love and light. The difficult issues were never really explored.
I then discovered shadow work and started to discover that the dark side of life provides the compost for rejuvenation.
I think one needs to hold the light and dark and navigate through that. This process remains a journey.
Thank you for sharing such honest reflections. I completely agree.
True growth comes from holding both light and shadow. It’s all part of the journey.
Or swim, that always helps me
