Transcript:
Hello and a very warm welcome to episode eight of Elmar’s Tooth Talk: The missing link to total health. I am Dr Elmar Jung.
Today we discuss how you and your loved ones can stay healthy, not just in times of crisis but for life.
So, before we start let me tell you What’s in it for you in this episode:
We talk about:
- What are the big No No’s, the stuff you should ban from your kitchen
- What are potential poisons in your home
- How you can boost your start in the day
- How you can stay healthy for life and in times of a crisis?
- Why emotions shouldn’t run our life?
- What supplements you should take?
- Why parents should protect their babies and small children from this common toxin
Let us start first with the stuff you should avoid and ban from your life in order to become really healthy. The big No No’s:
If you want a healthy body, if you are suffering or recovering from an illness these are the foods to stay away from.
The big NO-NOs
First obviously is Sugar. Whether it is white sugar, artificial sweeteners or high fructose corn syrup. None of these have any nutritional value and are all poisons. Aspartame, for example, is linked to more than 100 detrimental health effects including mood swings, memory loss, chronic fatigue and diabetes.
Secondly there is Wheat. Wheat nowadays is totally different from how it was decades ago. It is refined, bleached-white flour. Essentially it is a sugar. It has hardly any nutritional value, but a bag full of very toxic chemicals from the production process.
Thirdly Dairy. The problem starts already by breeding cows who produce vast quantities of milk, feeding them soy-based food, enriched with antibiotics and hormones and other medication to keep them on their legs. Jammed in a cage where they can hardly move.
On top of this, pasteurisation and homogenisation kill the milks enzymes. Without those enzymes milk becomes even more difficult to digest for humans. The same goes for butter, cheese and yoghurt deriving from this kind of cow’s milk. Cow’s milk is for baby cows!
The Weston A Price community advocates milk. However, their emphasis is on raw untreated milk from grass fed cows. This milk is full fat and full of other good stuff such as rich in iodine and vitamin D. Butter, full fat cheese and kefir are in this category too.
Then Corn & Soy. Corn and soy once were nutritious and healing, but nowadays most of are genetically modified and only a very small percentage of unaltered crops remain.
E-numbers. That’s a biggie. E-numbers are the numbers, if we are cynical, where producers hide the toxins, they are allowed to spoil the food they produce.
ALWAYS Check the labels for these ingredients and stay clear from artificial additives such as colourings or artificial flavourings or Mono-Sodium-Glutamate (MSG) a taste enhancer which the Chinese kitchen uses a lot.
Meat. If meat is still part of your diet and I don’t say it shouldn’t, buy only meat that is grass-fed, and free of antibiotics. Free range alone is not good enough. The meat you consume should be of the highest quality and reared to very highest animal welfare standards. Obviously, it is more expensive to raise healthy animals but therefore, you get food that doesn’t harm your health.
Some practitioners recommended you stay away from pork, especially if you want to heal from a chronic disease.
Farmed Fish. Only opt for wild fish. Even those become more and more toxic. The higher in the food chain, the more toxic they are. Therefore, buy small fish such as sardines, anchovies or mackerels. Small fish equals small toxicity!
What are other potential poisons in your home?
Microwave ovens. Well, Microwave kills food. And not only that. Research found that once you have eaten microwaved food, your blood chemistry changes for several minutes into a very unhealthy state. Throw your microwave away. Or better return it and ask for your money back.
Non-stick pans. They can add a sprinkling of nasty chemicals to your organic free-range eggs as these pans almost always contain a chemical called PFOA which, according to the American Cancer Society and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, can affect growth, development, the liver, fertility and even cause cancer.
And there is one more thing, which is supposedly even worse than the above mentioned together. It is not a food. It is not a drink. It is something that is lurking around everywhere. You don’t see it, you don’t hear it, you don’t smell or taste it, but it is all around you in your home. Electro-Magnetic-Fields. EMF from WiFi, 4G and soon 5G.
I know it is difficult to stay away however, there are gadgets to help and protective clothes to wear. If you have young children, restrict their exposure to these harmful frequencies as much as possible because the youngest are the most susceptible ones and will suffer the most.
My advice for your bedroom: Keep all electrical and mobile devices out and turn them off at night.
I recommend to my patients to stay away from these fields especially after surgery.
Okay, now that you got the bad boys and girls out of your kitchen, let us have a look what is important to keep you and your loved ones healthy.
We start with some easy to implement ideas.
Obviously, this is in no way an extensive or complete list. It is more like a reminder because many of the tips mentioned here you might already know. Sometimes it is just this little nudge, to get back on track.
How can you boost your start in the day?
HYDRATION
The one thing your body craves is good, clean and filtered water. And you should drink at least 1.5 litres of pure, clean water. There are many different systems out there. From table-top filters to entire house filtration system. Somewhere in the middle and always top in reviews is the water filter system from Berkey which we use at home.
The Berkey is affordable, very easy to set-up, doesn’t require any installation, you can even take it outdoors. It needs very little maintenance and its filtration quality is top notch. They even offer a shower head which filters out chlorine.
If you drink alcohol, black tea or coffee add the amount you drink of these beverages to the 1.5 litres because those liquids dehydrate your body. If you do a lot of sport increase your intake accordingly.
How can you start your day with a real energy booster? There are different ways to so. What I recommend, always drink a large glass of water straight after getting up. This replenishes the water lost during the night. Ideally squeeze in half a lemon and wash it before squeezing, even if it is organic.
If you have the time and like to experiment a bit, give this one a go. You need one organic orange and lemon, mix the entire fruits in a juicer, add some turmeric, ginger and cinnamon and water, mix again and enjoy.
If that all sound a bit too harsh why not try celery juice first thing in the morning? Celery juice balances your stomach acidity. Which means no matter whether your stomach acid is to low or to high Celery juice will balance it.
According to Anthony Williams it has so many health benefits he dedicated an entire book to this long green veg.
Of course, your Oral Hygiene is very important to stay healthy.
However, to keep your teeth, gums and tongue healthy and your breath fresh there are better ingredients than fluoride or sodium laureth sulphate which you’ll find in most brands.
Simple essential oils such as clove or tea-tree mixed in some clean water give a great mouth wash. And if you want to make your own tooth paste just mix some sea salt with bicarbonate soda and a dash of 3% Hydrogen peroxide until you have a nice paste. You can add some essential oil too.
Oil pulling with Coconut oil is also a great way to keep your gnasher and your gum clean.
And remember to use a tongue scraper – daily! Your tongue is where all the tiny little critters sit. So better get rid of them. It also keeps your breath attractive.
The best toothbrush in my opinion is the one Dr Phillips developed in the 1960’s. It is called Blotting brush. This toothbrush is just awesomely brilliant. It works without toothpaste, which comes handy for people and especially kids who hate toothpaste. You get them from Toothwizards.com.
Fresh air, sunshine and a good night’s sleep
Deep breathing in fresh air and getting some sunshine on your naked skin is very important for your overall health. It can reduce anxiety, improve your blood flow and increase your energy levels.
Blue sky and sunshine seem to be the daily gratification for lock-downers. No Greta needed anymore! That’s a blessing. However, farmers will most likely disagree.
Equally important as deep breathing and sunshine is having sufficient and good night sleep. Some say at least eight hours, others get on with just four. As always, I guess it comes down to the individual person. If you take a power nap during the day or practice meditation, your requirement for sleep may be less.
Stay active
Staying active should also be part of your lifestyle. A gentle walk is all it takes. For the more adventurous, get a rebounder. Nothing better than to bounce on a little trampoline first thing in the morning to give your lymphatic system, which helps detoxifying your body, a head start. And if you have time and the perseverance for more there is plenty to choose from.
Emotional Health
We hear it every day and bookstore shelves are full of them, online courses about the topic soar and more people than ever before look for professional emotional support. We know if we want to be healthy our emotional health is a critical part.
This is especially important in times of challenges or crisis, when we are surrounded by uncertainty, doubt and fear. Or should I say fear mongering?
In those times it is essential to keep calm and not to let your emotions run your life and I would add this is important all along our lives.
Why emotions shouldn’t run our life?
Because emotions such as anger, sadness, fear, hurt, guilt, uncertainty or doubt lower your immune system and therefore, can make you even more susceptible to health threats and spiral you down into a very vulnerable state.
And it goes on from there, because the thoughts you think have a knock-on effect on your body. There is a wise quote from Mahatma Gandhi which you have most likely already heard. However, it is a good match for this topic.
Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.
Therefore, it is important that you control your thoughts rather than your thoughts control you.
This brings us to Acceptance. Accepting was is, is the first step towards any kind of healing whether that is emotional, physical, mental, spiritual or intellectual. Acceptance means embracing what is, rather than wishing for what is not.
If you find yourself in a challenging situation, acceptance might not be the first thing that springs to mind. And it might not be what you want to do. However, acceptance is more than just an emotion, it is also an attitude.
It can be tough to change one’s state of mind. However, the rewards outweigh the amount of effort invested in exploring and eventually overcoming limitations.
Gratitude is another important personality trait. Gratitude is a feeling of appreciation and acceptance. Once you adopt a grateful attitude, you are more likely to experience situations you can be grateful for. Energy flows where attention goes.
Gratitude makes us feel better and it buffers against disempowering emotions. Both emotions, acceptance and gratitude, are an integral part of a healthy emotional state.
Wellbeing
We all want to be well. However, well-being is much more than the absence of illness. Well-being is what we strive for. Well-being is about balancing our thoughts, beliefs, values, feelings, and behaviour to support us in our day-to-day lives and how we feel about ourselves and our life.
With well-being comes love. Love for yourself. Love for others. Love for the things you do.
And well-being is strongly linked with joy, happiness and life satisfaction. And, of course with love for oneself and peace of mind.
If you like to dive deeper into this topic and motivate yourself to keep control over your thoughts, why not book a consultation with Sam our in-house NLP Master coach. She has supported many clients on their life’s journey.
Ok, I trust you got some useful information from this episode. That’s it for today. Thank for listening.
In the next episode, you will discover what minerals and vitamins are, why they are important, which ones are most important, what are the best food sources and how much should you take.
Until next time. This is: Elmar´s Tooth Talk. The missing link to total health. Bye for now.
