Healthy parents conceive healthy children!
.
As soon as the teeth appear, you can gently wipe them with cotton wool after the evening meal.
.
Up to about the age of five, it is necessary for the parents to clean the child`s teeth again themselves. After this age parents still need to check that cleaning is done properly.

I recommended you use a non-harmful toothpaste that is fluoride-free and contains no questionable ingredients such as sodium lauryl sulphate or artificial sweeteners. READ THE LABEL
.
Children should only start using toothpaste if they are able to rinse and spit out the residue.
.
Some parents like to role-play an impending visit to the dentist with their child, which I recommend you do, leave out any reference to the magic words:” It will not hurt”.
.
If you have a routine dental appointment for yourself, take your child with you just to get him/her familiar with the dentist, the new environment and especially the sounds.

If one of the baby teeth has to be extracted your child should wear a “space maintainer”. This maintains the space for the permanent tooth to grow properly which is especially important for front teeth before the age of 4 and all other “baby teeth” before the age of 9.
.
Early habits like breathing through the mouth, sucking the thumb and tongue thrusting do not affect the permanent teeth if stopped by the age of 5 years.
.
To prevent the Nursing Bottle Syndrome from happening simply give your child plain water and never dip the pacifier in any sweet-tasting substances.
